April Steelhead on the Oregon Coast
We are blessed on the north Oregon coast to have "winter" steelhead runs that extend through April and even into May on good water years. The last day I was out was dreamy. Clouds drifted overhead with occasional sun breaks, temperatures were around 60 degrees, and we were the only people on the river. Doesn't get much better for a steelheader. Give me a call if you're interested in a wild steelhead fix before I head back to the Deschutes April 28.
This was one of the most impressive steelhead of the season. Incredible strength, only a few miles out of salt!!
