Creepin' on Winter Steelhead Season
We are so close to winter steelhead season on the North Oregon coast I can smell them coming. We swing flies on the Wilson, Trask, Nestucca, Nehalem, Kilchis, and other rivers January through April when the natives are in. The Wild Salmon Center recognizes this area as one of the world's last intact strongholds for spawning wild steelhead.
In a time when everyone seems to be a winter steelhead guide we are proud to be one of the original full time spey rod fly swinging guide services here, following in the footsteps of Mike McCune and Scott O'Donnell.
2017 is approaching and I am excited to begin my 12th season of guiding winter steelhead on the coast. I've been tying flies and preparing my gear. Lets fish this winter.
