Lower Deschutes River Fly Fishing Report
A few nice Redsides from last week...
Fishing has been great on the Lower Deschutes! Dry flies have taken most of our trout on recent trips. Golden stone dries have been working well from Warm Springs all the way to Maupin. Trout are still taking the big bugs! Towards the lower end of the 35 mile drift, few if any stones are out. The redsides are not in all the stonefly feeding areas, but wrather in there normal haunts. Lately the hot bug has been a size 8 Clark's stone... imitating a male golden stone.
Aside from stone action, we encountered EPIC hatches of PMD's. Around 12:00 pm pods of trout began working weed beds and riffles for emerging mayflies. For about an hour and a half we had some really exciting sight fishing.
Looking forward to a warm weekend!
